Do you want to see the sights with your dog? In the Netherlands, it’s free to take your pup on public transport with you, or you can get an all-day pass to take them on the train for just €3.

There are a whole load of great outdoor attractions across the Netherlands for you and your pup to enjoy, and being a small country you can discover plenty in even just a short trip! But Amsterdam has been named the most animal-friendly city in the country, so the Dutch capital might be an ideal starting point.

Remaining in Europe, this Alpine nation is perfect for pups. If you feel like a bite to eat, there are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants complete with bowls of water and treats for your canine friend, while your dog can even enjoy the fondue tram with you too.

If you and your pup enjoy spending time in the outdoors, there are all sorts of walks and hikes for you to try out, and then of course you’ve got the cities too. No matter the sort of vacation you’re after, Switzerland will make it a happy one for both you and your dog.

Take a trip on a pet-friendly ferry, or make the most of the beautiful Canadian outdoors. Why not head to Lake Banff, the Buena Vista Dog Park in Edmonton, or one of the many dog-friendly beaches?

Many restaurants are happy for well-behaved dogs to enter too, while plenty of parks and outdoor attractions welcome pooches too. You could even take your dog on a canoe trip!

It’s such a huge country that it could feel daunting, but the iconic city of Rio de Janeiro is a good starting point if you’re trying to find somewhere in Brazil to visit with your dog. Head to the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, a large park containing two dog parks, as well as trails and seating too.

But across the country, you’ll find dog-friendly hotels and restaurants, and there’s an off-leash area of the Copacabana beach too.

Japan

Even in such a busy city like Tokyo, you can take your dogs to places like Yoyogi Park – admission is free, so you can enjoy a great day with your dog at very little cost.

While bringing your pup into Japan can be quite a complex process, with their stringent laws, it could be well worth it for an adventure you’ll never forget!
